The Ohio Valley Athletic Conference Four-Day Tennis Championships: Results

Ohio Valley Athletic Conference (OVAC) held its annual Tennis Championships from April 24th to April 27th, with four days of intense competition that saw some of the region’s top high school athletes showcase their skills on the court. The tournament featured separate brackets for boys and girls in both singles and doubles matches, with each day bringing its own set of excitement and drama.

Day 1: Boys Doubles

The opening day of the OVAC Tennis Championships saw some thrilling action in the Boys Doubles brackets. In the #1 Boys Doubles Bracket, Linsly High School Boys team of Aranguren and Consuegra emerged victorious in a hard-fought battle with Morgantown High School’s Phillips-Hartley and Hall, with a final score of 9-7. In the #2 Boys Doubles Bracket, Linsly High School’s Hoang and Guzzo managed to secure a narrow 9-8 win against Morgantown High School’s Abbitt and Tian, after an intense and closely contested match. Meanwhile, in the #3 Boys Double Bracket, Morgantown High School’s boys Chen and Chhin-Kreiner defeated Linsly High School’s Palmer and Mihajlovie in a quick 8-1 match.

Day 2: Boys Singles

Day 2 of the tournament featured the Boys Singles brackets, with some top-notch tennis on display. In the #1 Boys Singles Bracket, Linsly High School’s Pablo Aranguren claimed the title with an impressive 8-4 win over Max Phillips-Hartley. Morgantown High School’s Bennett Hall emerged victorious in the #2 Boys Singles Bracket, after defeating Diego Consuegra 8-6 in a hard-fought match. Meanwhile, in the #3 Boys Singles Bracket, Morgantown High School’s Wyatt Abbitt secured a comfortable 8-0 victory over Andrew Hoang. In the #4 Boys Singles Bracket, Linsly High School’s Matteo Guzzo defeated Max Chen 8-6 in a thrilling encounter.

Day 3: Girls Doubles

The third day of the OVAC Tennis Championships saw the girls take to the court in the doubles brackets. In Girls Doubles Bracket #1, University High School’s Byers Sisters emerged victorious with an 8-2 win over Maya/Sam. In Girls Doubles Bracket #2, University High School’s Rusiecki/Takas pair secured a dominant 8-2 win against Chadha/Carver. Meanwhile, in Girls Doubles Bracket #3, Morgantown High School’s Forman/Lu beat Rosenthal/Robertson with a score of 8-1.

Day 4: Girls Singles

The final day of the OVAC Tennis Championships featured the Girls Singles brackets, with some top-class tennis on display. In the #1 Girls Singles Bracket, University High School’s Lyla Byers claimed the title with an impressive 8-3 win over Madeline Bradshaw. Morgantown High School’s Sam Carver emerged victorious in the #2 Girls Singles Bracket, after defeating Emma Rusiecki 8-4 in a closely contested match. In the #3 Girls Singles Bracket, Linsly High School’s Ava Bartlett secured an 8-5 win over Sydney Takacs, while in the #4 Girls Singles Bracket, Morgantown High School’s Anika Chadha defeated Reese Moores 8-5.
